Meadforest goes for five wins in Tier II

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— Meadforest FC will hope to make it five wins in a row in the Jamaica Football Federation’s Tier II competition on Saturday when they take on third-placed Tru Juice FC at the Tru Juice complex in Bog Walk, St Catherine, set to start at 3:30 pm.

Despite their battles with the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), after defying their orders not to play in the Premier League qualifying competition, Meadforest FC have thrived so far and are sitting pretty on top of the points tables.

Second-placed Racing United, who scored a massive 19-0 thrashing over Downs FC in their rescheduled game at Prison Oval on Wednesday to improve to 10 points, will host Wadada United on Saturday while Falmouth United will be away to Downs FC.

Until Racing’s deluge of goals against Downs FC on Wednesday, Meadforest FC’s 11 was the most scored by one team and they will expect Rodari Edwards and Delano Daley to lead them today.

Tru- Juice have been inconsistent so far but are coming off a 2-1 win over Reno FC and will be confident they can hold their own against the leaders, especially playing at home.

Racing United will be hungry for more goals today and face a Wadada United team that has won just once, but that one win came in the previous round and the St James team will be hoping to build on their first win.

Racing will be hard to beat at home, however, and Raheem Edwards, who scored 10 times in the big win over Downs FC to take his tally to 14 goals on the season in only four games, will be hoping to add to his tally as well as Nickyle Ellis and Mikyle Williams who are both on four goals each.

Falmouth United will be hunting their first away win this season and faces a Downs FC team that could still be smarting from their double-digit loss.

Falmouth United had beaten Downs 6-1 when they met last season and the Trelawny team should be able to get three more points and stay in touch with the leaders.

Reno FC will also be hoping to rebound from last weekend’s loss when they host Lime Hall Academy at Llandilo Sports Complex.

Reno FC had won their two previous games but fell short against Tru-Juice and will go up against a Lime Hall team coming off a big 3-1 win over Downs FC.

Treasure Beach will also hope to bounce back after their 2-0 loss to Falmouth United and are winless in their last two games as they host Portlanders FC.
