Harbour View lead Humble Lion in JPL quarter-finals first leg
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Defending champions Harbour View took a big lead over Humble Lion in the two way quarter-finals of the Jamaica Premier League after winning Monday’s first leg 2-0 at Sabina Park.
The four teams that finished between third and sixth places after the regular season will contest a two way play-off with the winners facing regular season champions Arnett Gardens and second placed Cavalier in the semi-finals.
In the other first leg quarter-final game played on Monday, Mt Pleasant FA scored deep into time added on to earn a draw against last season’s beaten finalists Dunbeholden FC.
Harbour View and Humble Lion saw each team finishing the game with 10 players after Demar Rose of Harbour View and Afiba Chambers of Humble Lion were sent off midway through the second half.
Odorland Harding scored in the 23rd minute to give Harbour View the lead, while Ryan Wellington doubled the advantage in the 77th minute as the ‘Stars of the East’ gave themselves a good cushion.
In the first game, Dunbeholden will be cursing their luck as they allowed Mt Pleasant FA back into the tie after leading late into the proceedings.
Stephen Barnett put Dunbeholden into the lead in the 53rd minute and looked well on their way to beating Mt Pleasant FA in back to back games before second half substitute Leonardo Rankin was well placed seven minutes into time added on to score the equaliser, guiding the ball home at the far right post.
