British woman charged after £60,000 worth of cocaine found in her suitcase
ST JAMES, Jamaica – Investigators assigned to the Narcotics Division say they have seized cocaine with an estimated street value of £60,000 from a 37-year-old British woman at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay on Saturday, May 13.
She is Iyesha Scarlett, an office administrator of Birmingham, England.
Reports are that about 2:15 pm, during a routine security check Scarlett’s luggage was searched and four packages of cocaine weighing over two kilograms were removed from a hidden compartment.
On Monday, May 15, Scarlett was charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, attempting to export cocaine and conspiracy to export cocaine.
She is scheduled to appear before the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, May 24.
