Portmore Utd and Cavalier FC to meet in Lynk Cup KO final
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Portmore United came back late in their semi-finals return leg against Harbour View at Stadium East on Friday to win 3-2 on penalties and will meet Cavalier FC in the final of the Lynk Cup KO.
A goal in time added saw Portmore United tie up the aggregate scores at 3-3 and, after 30 minutes of scoreless extra time, the tie was decided from the penalty spot. Meanwhile, Cavalier FC ran roughshod over Dunbeholden FC in the other game, winning 3-0 for a 4-0 aggregate score.
After drawing the first leg 2-2, Harbour View got their noses in front after Garth Stewart scored his first goal of the season in the 39th minute and it appears that would be enough until Stephen Young produced the equaliser in the fourth minute of added time.
Portmore United’s goalkeeper Benjamin Williams made three saves in the shoot-out as his team advanced.
Cavalier led 1-0 at halftime after Collin Anderson scored in time added at the end of the first half, while Shaniel Thomas doubled the scores in the game in the 72nd minute. Ronald Robinson came off the bench to add a third in the 89th minute.
Dunbeholden finished the game with 10 players after Zackiya Wilks was shown a straight red card in time added on.
