Meadforest hammer Hopewell to retake Tier II lead

MEADFOREST FC reclaimed the lead in the Jamaica Football Federation Tier II competition on Saturday after beating Hopewell United 6-1 at the Orchard Sports Complex.

Meadforest FC, who improve to 19 points from eight games, have swapped the lead with Racing United for the past three rounds. But the red-hot Treasure Beach have taken over second place, on goal-difference, after beating Baptist Alliance 4-1. Racing United slipped to joint third after losing their first game of the season, beaten 1-2 by Tru-Juice FC.

Meadforest FC and Treasure Beach FC have two points more than the trio of Racing United, Tru-Juice FC and Lime Hall Academy.

Rodari Edwards scored a hat-trick and Roshaun Oldfield scored two goals for Meadforest FC, who rebounded from a 0-0 draw against Albion Mountain, to dominate the Hanover-based Hopewell on Saturday.

Dario Dacres gave Meadforest the lead after 12 minutes and Edwards made it 2-0 in the 18th minute before Earl Scott pulled a goal back for the home team in the 23rd minute.

Edwards got his brace in the 38th minute to make the score 3-1 and Oldfield added a fourth in the 43rd minute.

Oldfield completed his brace in the 79th minute and Edwards got his hat-trick in time added on.

Treasure Beach FC beat Baptist Alliance for the second-straight season with a big 4-1 margin as they continued their climb up the table.

Lime Hall Academy blanked Wadada United FC 3-0 in Montego Bay with goals from Ranaldo Brown (19th minute), Ronaldo Hanson (26th) and Shaquielle Cainn (74th) for their third win in their last four games.

Albion Mountain maintained their unbeaten record after holding Reno FC 0-0 at home as they stay in sixth place on 14 points, one more than Falmouth United, who beat Portlanders FC 6-2 with Dante Green scoring a hat-trick.

Brown’s Town had their biggest win of the season, spanking last-place Downs YC 9-0 at Drax Hall with Javandy Clarke, Kemar Knox and Antwone Wilson, all scoring twice.
