SHERICKA Jackson produced a masterclass to win the women’s 100 metres event at the Racers Grand Prix at the National Stadium last evening.

Jackson, who is the reigning World 200m champion, clocked a meet record time of 10.78 seconds to destroy the field.

The Bahamian Anthonique Strachan, who is the training partner of Jackson at the MVP Track and FieldClub, was second in a season’s best time of 10.99, while third went to Shashalee Forbes in 11.07.

American Christian Coleman was pushed all the way to the line before winning the men’s 100m A race in 10.03 seconds. The fast-finishing Kadrian Goldson was second in a personal best 10.08, while Emanuel Archibald of Guyana was third in 10.23.

Remona Burchell clocked a season’s best 11.17 to win the women’s 100 B race, Tina Clayton was second in a personal best 11.23, while third went to Briana Williams in 11.30.

Tyler Mason won the men’s 110m hurdles event with 13.14, ahead of Orlando Bennett (13.18) and Damion Thomas (13.19).

World record holder Tobi Amusan clocked a season’s best 12.57 to win women’s 100m hurdles event. The Nigerian Amusan flew from the blocks before crossing the finish line comfortably ahead of her rivals. Tia Jones from the US was second in 12.72 while third went to Jamaica’s Megan Tapper in 12.80.

Zandrion Barnes turned in a lifetime-best 44.90 to finish second in the A race of the men’s 400m event. The race was won by the world’s record holder Wayde van Niekerk from South Africa in a meet record 44.21. Jamaica’s national recorder holder Rusheen McDonald was third in 45.24.

Antonio Watson produced one of the spectacular performances of the meet when he clocked massive personal best time of 44.75 to win the B race.

Watson, who is conditioned by legendary Jamaican coach, Glen Mills at the Racers Track Club, led from start to finish before pulling away from his rivals to win the event comfortably.

The ever-improving Roshawn Clarke was second in a lifetime-best 45.25 while third went to Assinie Wilson, also in a personal best 45.51.

Charokee Young produced a brilliant stretch to outsprint her rivals to win the women’s 400m event in 51.11.

Young, who is a former Hydel High School star, got off to a slow start before running on in the final 20 metres, and got by long-time leader and compatriot Stacey-Ann Williams who was second in 51.34. The American Kendall Ellis was third in 51.37.

Former Hydel High standout Shiann Salmon won the women’s 400m hurdles in a respectable 55.10, ahead of her compatriot Ronda Whyte (55.5)5 and the American Cassandra Tate 55.62.

Jamiaca’s Shanieka Ricketts won the women’s triple jump with a leap of 14.32m in front of Thea Lafond of Dominica (14.15), and the USA’s Imani Oliver (12.97).
