Fam Fun Entertainment, the promoters of Funfest, the unique family festival, has donated $250,000 to the Food for Thought (FFT) Foundation to support the implementation of a breakfast programme at Shortwood Practising Primary and Infant School (SPPIS).

The announcement of the donation was made on the Funfest Instagram account on Thursday.

The post read, “The FFT Project aims to improve the physical and mental well-being of needy children within selected schools, commencing with SPPIS, through the provision of healthy breakfast for their most vulnerable and needy students.”

It continued, “In this regard the project seeks to address this essential need and will initially target the school’s 100 most needy students by providing them with breakfast three days per week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).”

Ella Ghartey, project manager for Funfest, shared: “Funfest has been synonymous with wholesome entertainment and attractions for the entire family, with the children being the centre of it all… Accordingly, having learned of the Food for Thought Project and its objective to improve the physical and mental well-being of vulnerable children, with a view to having them realise their full potential, we saw our partnership with FFT Foundation as a natural synergy.”

Funfest, which is held three times annually at Hope Gardens in St Andrew, was last held over the Easter holiday. The next staging is set for August 1.
