Nissan boasts new X-Trail

Fidelity Motors, local dealers for the Nissan brand of vehicles, launched the all-new 2024 Nissan X-Trail on Tuesday, June 20 at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel, New Kingston.

“We are extremely happy to have the new X-Trail. As our slogan says, Innovation that excites. We have waited on this new X-Trail for almost 2 years,” Deborah Stewart, general manager, Fidelity Motors Limited, told the Jamaica Observer.

The 2024 Nissan X-Trail is taller and wider than the outgoing model for more interior space, but retains its original wheelbase. It’s however slightly shorter for better manoeuvrability. On the exterior, the Nissan V-motion grille gets updated LED headlight, while the rear receives boomerang style tail lights for an unmistakable visual signature at night.

Inside, the new floating centre console shows off the many practical and sizeable storage solutions in the cabin, alongside such niceties as the dual digital displays consisting of a 10.8-inch screen for instrumentation and up to a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. All seven passengers can enjoy the available BOSE stereo system and panoramic sunroof.

The real headline of 2024 X-Trail is that it arrives in a timely manner as an electric vehicle (EV) using Nissan’s e-POWER technology.

“Our customers have been asking for EV options. They were very aware of the impending arrival of the e-POWER X-Trail and had made pre-bookings of the model. Customers have also requested our Nissan Leaf and Nissan Kicks models. We hope to have those models at some time in the future,” said Stewart.

e-POWER uses an internal combustion engine to charge the two electric motors that drive the wheels.

“This makes it a unique technology, capable of delivering the full thrill of torque from the moment you press the accelerator, with no worries about battery consumption and battery range, especially in a country like Jamaica,” said Stewart.

The tech fest continues blessing the X-Trail with 13 Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies, including intelligent peripheral vision monitor with moving object detection and intelligent emergency braking assistance.

The 2024 X-Trail e-POWER is available in two trim levels starting at just over $10 million.
