Samantha Fletcher moves to Canada
Samantha Fletcher, Caymanas Park’s current leading female rider, is about to embark on a new chapter in her career by taking her saddle to the international racing circuit.
Fletcher, who began riding at the Park since 2018, will now compete at the Century Mile racetrack in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Fletcher, who had just returned from a 20-day suspension, had ridden five winners in 57 rides this season. She had ridden 49 wins from 867 rides in her career, placing her second on the all-time female list after the local ‘Queen’ Georgina Sergeon. Sergeon tops the standings with 59 victories from 822 rides.
Natalie Berger is third with 25 wins, followed by Andree Powell (22 wins), Mellisa Ward (18 wins), Azel Cowie Fung (15 wins), Abigail Able (14 wins), and Tamicka Lawrence (no wins).
Fletcher will not be alone at Century Mile, as she will join fellow countrymen Dane Nelson, Andre Martin, Richard Lunan, and Linton Steadman.
