Silver for Jamaica in women’s 100m at CAC Games
Jamaica sprinter Yanique Dayle is still celebrating after winning her first individual senior medal for the country at the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador on Monday night.
Dayle, a former Hydel High School standout, captured the silver medal in the women’s 100m final in a time of 11.39 seconds. The race was won by St Lucian athlete Julian Alfred in 11.14s. Yunisleidy Garcia from Cuba took home the bronze medal in 11.50s.
Dayle was way off her personal best of 11.05s, which she achieved in May of this year in Jacksonville, Florida. The 24-year-old said that she was not too pleased with her time, but is very delighted with the silver medal.
“It was not what I wanted based on the time, but I am thankful that it is my first senior team and first CAC medal and so I am looking forward to many more to come,” she said. “This will certainly open more doors and opportunities moving forward to see what God has in store for me,” she told OBSERVER ONLINE.
