Jamaica ready and raring to meet Trinidad in CAC Netball finals
San Salvador, El Salvador – Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls will battle Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago in Friday’s gold medal match at the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Games in El Salvador.
The match will be played at 7:30 pm (8:30 pm Ja time).
The Jamaican team, which includes five players who will be attending this month’s Netball World Cup (NWC) tournament in South Africa, have been very dominant in the championships so far as they have won all their matches by more than 25 goals going into today’s final game.
In fact, they established a new record for the most goals in a game when they hammered minnows The Cayman Islands 118-10 on Tuesday. The previous record of 108 goals was set by Trinidad and Tobago the previous day.
Jamaica’s captain Adean Thomas said they are confident and raring to go.
“I think for us, winning the gold medal will be a major thing. As you know, it is the first time that netball is being played in the CAC Games and so we definitely want to take home this gold medal back to Jamaica,” Thomas told OBSERVER ONLINE.
“This will be the first gold medal for the Sunshine Girls in an international championship and so we will be going all out for it because the girls are very confident and I am backing a hundred and ten per cent,” she said.
