#NationalTrials: Clarke shatters national U20 400mh record
KINGSTON, Jamaica – In his first year as a senior, Roshawn Clarke of Swept Track Club claimed the national title, while shattering the national Under-20 400m hurdles record in the process.
Formerly of Camperdown High, Clarke best an experienced field to clock a time of 47.85, making him the second fastest Jamaican male in the event of all time.
He is the second Jamaican below the 48 seconds barrier.
In addition, he clocked the fourth fastest time in the world this year.
The previous record was held by his teammate Jaheel Hyde, who set the mark of 48.81 in 2016.
Hyde, also of Swept Track Club, finished second in 48.45.
Titans Track Club’s Assinie Wilson claimed the third spot in 48.50.
