ANNOTTO BAY, St Mary — Magnum King of Dancehall 2016 title winner Accid showed that he still has his royal roots and is worthy of being called king by captivating his audience with a magnificent performance at the second staging of Annotto Bay Fest on Saturday, July 15.

A home-grown talent from the community, Accid has been a fixture on the show since its conception, delivering performances that leave the audience in a frenzy.

Saturday was no different. Like a true professional, the young artiste reeled off his hits, and the latest one Like Donald Trump had the women in the audience gyrating to its catchy beat.

His performance was a hard act to top, but the young and enthusiastic artistes who followed made their presence felt.

Guest artiste Jahmiel, who has also established himself as one of the main acts of the two-year-old show, was also well received as he delivered out hit after hit, such as Fade Away, Story of My life, Believe in Yourself, and Strongest Soldier, to name a few. The audience was with him every step of the way.

Businessman and promoter of the event Errol “Exodus” Green told the Jamaica Observer he was pleased to see another year of planning culminating in an event that showcased up-and-coming acts.

“Annotto Bay Fest is staged in collaboration with Chic, which will be working with the true, raw-blooded talent among the youth in and around Annotto Bay,” Green disclosed.

He said Chic will be pushing to make the show an annual event for the parish. It is an organisation, he explained, made up of Annotto Bay natives who now live both in and outside of Jamaica and are drawn together by a shared desire to uplift the community by engaging with its youngsters.

“The youth are our future. Education is a must-have and every youth has entertainment as part of their upbringing, therefore we want to harness these to have a positive impact. Since Chic’s conception two years ago we have assisted with giving out over 1,000 backpacks — which are fully equipped — to students in the Enfield and Annotto Bay areas,” Green disclosed.

He said this initiative will be repeated this year and the organisation is seeking to do even more in the field of entertainment for youngsters within the community.
