Taking a ride down Freedom Street in Overnight call

With no prize race on the six-race card that marks Caymanas Park’s return to live racing tomorrow, Saturday, July 22, 2023, the top-rated Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upwards at 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight is the main attraction.

The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide analyses the 12 runners entered as they battle for the $1.14-million in total purse money.

1. POWER RANKING: (4 b c by Casual Trick – Escandalosa) – Finished a close second to Green Gold Rush over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m) on July 9. Power Ranking should have no problem venturing over the straight and, despite the poor draw at post one, he should run a decent race and be a part of the final four.

2. PRINCE MARSHALL: (5 ch g by War Marshall – Princess Shine) – Raced over the straight course once and finished down the track. Prince Marshall is expected to run a similar race on Saturday. Note: Figure-8 on.

Lure of Lucy

3. CURLIN’S AFFAIR: (5 ch m by Perfect Curlin – Nuclear Affair) – Finished a disappointing 9th place behind God of Love and Lure of Lucy when stepping down to this level on July 1. Curlin’s Affair is better than that and is expected to improve his performance.

4. RING CHARMER: (5 b m by Where’s The Ring – Charming Beauty) – Has won twice over this distance already. Ring Charmer should not be left out of calculations. Note: Tongue-Tie on.

5. LUKSOL (USA): ( 4 b f by Tapiture – Storming Taste) – Has some good efforts over this distance but against these, Luksol is going to be left behind.

6. SPARKLE DIAMOND (USA): (7 ch h by Include – Myntz Connection) – Can be safely bypassed.

7. EL PROFESOR: (8 b g by Casual Trick – The Principal) – Has showed up with surprising runs every now and then. However, based on current form, El Profesor cannot be recommended for a winning run.

8. SECRET TRAVELLER: (9 b g by Traditional – Sea Traveller) – Has no realistic chance of winning this one.

9. FREEDOM STREET: (4 b g by Uncaptured – Nofashionsense) – Speedy runner who should love this distance. Freedom Street is expected to be on the front end and should be on the premises when the race is being decided. Note: Blinkers on.

10. JJTHESTRIKER: (5 ch h by Here Comes Ben – Zara) – Finished down the track in his first race at this level on June 17. Little or no improvement is expected from JJThestriker.

11. LURE OF LUCY (USA): (5 b m by Uncle Lino – River of Faith) – Easily the best horse in the line-up. Lure of Lucy has been very consistent in her races of late and also over this distance. On June 4, Lure of Lucy was beaten by Yellowstone at this distance and based on the nature of this race, she can go one better.

12. SNOWFLAKES: (5 gr m by American Dance – Miss Pasion) – Has no chance where winning is concerned.
