MONTEGO BAY, St James — Cornwall College could take over the lead in the St James Football Association’s Under-20 competition today when they host Granville United at Cornwall College, set to start at 3:30 pm.

Second-placed Cornwall College are coming off their first win, a 4-0 beating of winless Green Pond High on Tuesday, and could go ahead of leaders Cambridge United if they can get full points.

In another game, Spot Valley High and Green Pond High will seek their first win when they meet at Spot Valley.

Cambridge United who won the competition in 2019 (the last time it was held ), have won their first two games, beating Green Pond High 5-0 in their opening game and then edged Granville United 2-1 on Monday.

Meanwhile Cornwall College, who were held 0-0 by Spot Valley High in their opening game, are on four points, two behind Cambridge United after Tuesday’s win over Green Pond at Cornwall College.

On Monday, Cambridge United rallied from a goal down to beat Granville United who ended the game with 10 players after Lanceford Cunningham was shown the red card in the 77th minute.

Jordan Campbell gave Granville United the lead in the 68th minute but Tajay McIntyre equalised with his second goal of the season in the 78th minute before Marvin Strachan scored the winner in the 79th minute.

At Cornwall College on Tuesday, the home team wasted a handful of scoring chances on their way to beating Green Pond 4-0.

Cornwall College led 3-0 after just 17 minutes with goals from Travis Gordon in the seventh minute, Alexander Cox in the 12th minute, and Nickane Brown in the 17th minute — but they had to wait until the 73rd minute before Conrad Daley got the fourth goal.
