God of Love, Yellowstone battle for supremacy in BLGC Trophy
THE 19th staging of the $1.7-million Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission (BGLC) Trophy, an Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over 5½ furlongs (1,100m), takes centre stage on the nine-race Emancipation Day at Caymanas Park today.
The analysis of the six runners entered is published below.
1. GOD OF LOVE: (7 b g by Adore The Gold – Shanda D) – Scored his first win for the season at the races on July 1 when defeating rivals by three lengths in a 5½-furlong event in 1:06.3. God Of Love competes here in fantastic shape and could win again.
2. LURE OF LUCY (USA): (5 b m by Uncle Lino – Ring Of Faith) – Was an easy two-length winner over the straight in 1:00.4 on July 22. Lure of Lucy, however, was second behind God Of Love in that 5½-furlong race on July 1, which makes her chances here very slim.
3. LABAN: (6 b h by Sensational Slam – For Trixie) – Has not run a good race in his last six starts. Laban is going to be left behind in this one.
4. SWEET MAJESTY: (5 b m by Soul Warrior – Bitter End) – Has no winning chance here.
5. PERFECT BREW: (4 b g Bern Identity – Moonlight Brew) – Improving sort who was third by some 11 lengths behind Horse of the Year Atomica and Miniature Man over 7½ furlongs (1,500m) on July 1. Perfect Brew goes well at sprinting and is expected to be competitive here.
6. YELLOSWTONE: (4 ch g by Sensational Slam – Awry) – Finished fourth by 4½ lengths behind stablemates She’s My Destiny, King Arthur, and Miniature Man over 5½ furlongs in the SVL 22nd Anniversary on June 24. Yellowstone should be very comfortable among these and thus could set off in front and prove hard to get back to.
