Husband and wife duo Lance and Mellanie Stewart on Tuesday gifted 900 bags to children in Constant Spring, St Andrew, as part of their way to share their personal blessings.

“I’m blessed and wanted to bless those around me,” Mellanie said when explaining the reason for the gesture.

She and her husband donated school bags through their Daley Stewart Foundation, in partnership with several churches such as Saxthorpe Methodist Church, Stony Hill Methodist Church, Red Hills Methodist Church, Sterling Castle Methodist Church, Allman Hill Methodist Church in the parish.

“This is our second annual bag giveaway and we also provided food packages to give to parents too,” Mellanie told the Jamaica Observer.

She explained that donations will be made until Friday, to ensure all the bags are gifted.

“We have decided that if bags are left, we will give them away. We want to ensure 900 kids are going back to school with a good school bag and that the burden of buying bags are off their parents,” she said.

For next year she hopes to make a bigger donation to more children.

“My desire is to do it every year and I want to branch off in other locations,” she said.
