Anthony B’s collaboration with Dante Bowe surges up the Billboard charts

Wind Me Up, the collaborative effort by American Christian music singer Dante Bowe and reggae artiste Anthony B, continues to make gains on the Billboard charts.

On the charts dated August 12, Wind Me Up debuts at #50 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. The song improves from #15 to #14 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart.

In a recent interview with the Jamaica Observer, Anthony B explained how the collaboration with Dante Bowe came about.

“The collaboration came by the request of Dante and his management team. They reached out to me and from the moment that I heard the song, it was on fire. I said yes, let’s make it happen, and that was it,” Anthony B disclosed.

He added: “Hearing that the song has entered the Billboard R&B chart is a blessed feeling; one of accomplishment for both me and Dante. This is my first time being on a Billboard R&B chart.”

Jamaicnan-born, St Kitts and Nevis-based dancehall artiste Byron Messia also continues his winning ways on Billboard both with the original version of Talibans and the remix featuring Burna Boy, titled Talibans II.

On Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart, Talibans II debuts at #3 threatening to topple the long-running Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez.

Talibans II had debuted at #99 on the Billboard Hot 100 last week, but it has since fallen off the chart.

The original version of Talibans remains at #32 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, while stepping up from #15 to #12 on Rap Airplay. Over on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, the song bullets from #26 to #23.

On Rhythmic Airplay Top 40, Talibans improves from #31 to #24.

There’s a Jamaican presence on the Hot R&B Songs chart, as Energy by Beyonce featuring BEAM re-enters at #19. The song had peaked at #13 last year.

BEAM is 27-ear-old Tyshane Thompson, son of veteran gospel deejay Papa San. He was born in Kingston but moved to Florida during his teenage years.

Moving now to the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Endless Summer by Boston-based reggae band The Elovaters debuts at #4. This is the six-member band’s fifth charting title on the reggae table.

The band’s previous entries include Live @Sugarshack Sessions (EP) which peaked at #8, The Cornerstone (#9 in 2017) and Defy Gravity (#1 in 2018).

Bob Marley and the Wailers clock 186 non-consecutive weeks in the #1 spot with Legend, while Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy maintains its lock in the #2 spot.

No Love by Byron Messia holds down the #3 spot for a second week, while Dutty Classics Collection by Sean Paul rises from #8 to #5.

Stick Figure occupies positions #6, #7, and #8 with Wisdom, Set in Stone and World on Fire, respectively.

Greatest Hits by UB40 dips two places to #9, while Dutty Rock by Sean Paul tumbles to #10.
