14-y-o burn victim Ackalia Dunkley returns to Jamaica
Fourteen-year-old burn victim Ackalia Dunkley returned to Jamaica on Saturday after undergoing a number of surgeries in the United States.
In June, Ackalia sustained life-threatening third-degree burns in a kitchen explosion at her home in Burnt Savanna, St Elizabeth while reportedly attempting to prepare tea. Days later she was transported by air ambulance to Atlanta, Georgia, to receive specialised care at the Joseph M Still Burn Center.
Ackalia, who arrived at the Sangster International Airport on Saturday afternoon, will continue to receive medical care at the University Hospital of the West Indies.
