Geolithic takes 1959 Trophy race at a canter
Geolithic hit her stride in her third career start, dictating the pace and moving away for a comfortable win in the $1.1-million Caymanas Park 1959 Trophy feature on Sunday, earning freshly licensed trainer Peter-John Parsard his first professional win.
Three-year-old American-bred bay filly Geolithic (Neolithic – Queen G) won the Restricted Allowance II contest for native-bred three-year-olds (non-winners of two) and imported three-year-olds and upward (maidens) over one mile (1,600m) by an impressive 15 ½ lengths on a common canter.
Ridden by current leading jockey Reyan Lewis, Geolithic broke out strongly at the start of the race and contested the early lead with Blinkin Light (Shane Richardson). Geolithic took full control of the field leaving the six-furlong (1,200m) mark, followed by Blinkin Light, Sister D (Javaniel Patterson), and From Sheer To Ben (Oneil Mullings). Goelithic kept blazing the path and extended her lead over Norblar (Dane Dawkins) and From Sheer To Ben as both were under strong handling to keep up with the leader. Geolithic took a commanding lead into the lane and went on to releasethe maiden tag ahead of Norblar and From Sheer To Ben. The winning time for the race was 1:40.2 backed by splits of 23.4 x 46.4 x 1:13.1.
Omar Williams also won his first career race when his charge Rohan Kabir (Raddesh Roman) won the ninth and final event on the card. Rohan Kabir won the seven-furlong event by 11 ½ lengths in a time of 1:29.0.
Jockey Phillip Parchment was the pick of the riders, with three winners on the day. The jockey’s president won the first race aboard Stickydon for trainer Courtney Williams; the sixth race aboard True Bravado for trainer Donovan Russell; and in the seventh race aboard Prince Sanjay for trainer Steven Todd.
