Woman among four suspects held in Beryllium robbery in Mandeville; $2.5m recovered
A woman is among four persons who have been arrested in connection with last Friday’s robbery of a Beryllium security team at Scotiabank in Mandeville, Manchester.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey made the revelation at a press briefing earlier Wednesday at the Portmore Police Station in St Catherine.
He said more than $2.5 million have been recovered so far, adding that a high-level investigation continues into the heist.
A total of five bystanders were injured during Friday afternoon’s attack on the Beryllium security team at Scotiabank’s Ward Avenue location in Mandeville.

Reports are that sometime after 5:00 pm, gunmen armed with high powered weapons attacked the security guards before making off with bags of cash.
It has not been revealed as yet how much money they escaped with.
Police arrested a suspect in the wee hours of the morning after the robbery.
According to police, the suspect was travelling in a black Toyota Wish motorcar which was intercepted about 1:30 am along the Four Paths Main Road in Clarendon in the vicinity of Sunset Boulevard.
One 9mm magazine, one M16, two AK 47 rounds and a ski mask were reportedly recovered from the vehicle.
It is understood that the vehicle, which bore mismatched registration plates, belongs to man of a Portmore, St Catherine address.
