Meet records for Parchment, Clayton in China Diamond League meet
KINGSTON, Jamaica- Hurdlers Hansle Parchment and Rushell Clayton established meet records at Saturday’s Diamond League meeting in Xiamen, China in their first competition since the World Athletics Championships in Hungary, Budapest last week.
Parchment produced a season’s best 12.96 seconds (0.0m/s) to win the 110m hurdles in a new meet record.
American Daniel Roberts was second in 13.03 seconds while World Champion Grant Holloway finished third in 13.12 seconds.
Clayton ran 53.56 seconds to lead a Jamaican clean sweep of the medal podium with Andrenette Knight placing second in 53.87 seconds and Janieve Russell third in 54.01 seconds.
Meanwhile, there were second-place finishes for Kishane Thompson in the men’s 100m and Candice McLeod in the women’s 400m.
Thompson ran a personal best of 9.85 seconds (0.4m/s) while Yohan Blake finished sixth overall in 10.04 seconds. Rohan Watson was ninth in 10.18 seconds while Ackeem Blake pulled up in the race but jogged across the line.
McLeod equalled her season’s best 50.19 seconds, Rusheen McDonald finished third in the men’s 400m in 44.82 seconds while Zandrion Barnes was eighth in 45.29 seconds.
