Preston sink Stoke to take championship top spot
LONDON, United Kingdom (AFP) – Will Keane’s double fired Preston to their fourth-successive league win as they climbed to the top of the championship with a 2-0 victory at Stoke on Saturday.
Keane netted twice early in the second half to maintain the Lilywhites’ unbeaten start to the second-tier season.
Duane Holmes, on as a half-time substitute for Preston, won a penalty that Keane converted to open the scoring.
And the United States international was provider again for Keane’s second as he teed up his strike partner for an easy tap-in.
Ipswich fought back from two goals down to get back to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Cardiff at Portman Road.
The Bluebirds led through goals from Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ralls.
But the Tractor Boys came back strongly, dominating the second half thanks to goals from Nathan Broadhead and a double from Freddie Ladapo.
Leicester’s 100 per cent start to the season came to an end as Hull won 1-0 at the King Power Stadium.
