World Champion Danielle Williams wins in Germany
KINGSTON, Jamaica — World Champion Danielle Williams made it two straight wins since her victory at the World Athletics Championships a week ago, when she topped the field in the 100m hurdles at the ISTAF Berlin meet in Germany on Sunday.
Just days after winning at the Zurich Diamond League meeting, Williams clocked 12.71 seconds (0.5m/s) to take the win. Williams beat Australia’s Michelle Jenneke who was second in 12.89 seconds and American Amber Hughes USA 12.98 seconds, while Megan Tapper did not finish the race.
Meanwhile, Ronald Levy in his first race since July, won the 110m hurdles event. Levy, the Olympic Games bronze medallist just missed his season’s best 13.44 seconds when he clocked 13.45 seconds (0.5m/s) to win ahead of France’s Just Kwaou-Mathey France 13.46 seconds with Italy’s Lorenzo Ndele Simonelli third in 13.50 seconds.
There were also wins for Natasha Morrison and Amoi Brown at the 36th Meeting Internationale Citta di Padova, Italy also on Sunday. Morrison sped to 11.15 seconds (0.0m/s) to beat USA’s Twanisha Terry- 11.21 seconds with Briana Williams placing third with 11.39 seconds.
Brown ran 12.83 seconds (-0.8m/s) to win the 100m hurdles, Hungary’s was next with 13.20 seconds and Japan’s Mako Fukube third with 13.25 seconds.
Jonielle Smith was third in the women’s 100m in 11.33 seconds (0.1m/s), beaten by American Jenna Prandini who ran 11.24 seconds with Belgium’s Rani Rosius taking third in 11.32 seconds.
Tissanna Hickling finished fifth in a close women’s long jump with 6.34m (-0.9m/s) as American Tiffany Flynn won with 6.48m (-0.1m/s) followed by Germany’s Mikaelle Assani- 6.42m (-0.3m/s) and Great Britain’s Jazmin Sawyers also with 6.42m (0.0m/s).
Tajay Gayle was second in the men’s long jump with 8.00m (0.7m/s), marginally behind France’s Tom Campagne -8.09m (0.7m/s) while Ireland’s Reece Ademola took third with 7.97m (0.6m/s).
Michael Campbell was second in the men’s 100m, running 10.28 seconds (-0.7m/s) behind American Kyree King’s 10.27 seconds with
Canada’s Aaron Brown was third with 10.31 seconds.
