She’s My Destiny true to form in None Such Sprint
SHE’S My Destiny outsprinted opponents to win the $1.75-million None Such Sprint Trophy feature in good form at Caymanas Park on Saturday, in what was arguably her best show of raw speed.
She’s My Destiny established who is the best sprinter in the country right now with a stunning 10-length win in the Graded Stakes/Open Allowance race for three-year-olds and up over six furlongs (1,200m).
With only 45.0kgs (99lb) on her back, apprentice Ramon Nepare being in the saddle, She’s My Destiny flew from the number one draw and went to the front of the field carrying top-weight and talented Runaway Algo (Raddesh Roman) into the half-mile (800m) turn.
She’s My Destiny was challenged on the front entering the distance by Runaway Algo but the race was over after Jason DaCosta’s five-year-old chestnut mare straightened out in the drive. She’s My Destiny accelerated and found herself alone at the winning post for the third time in a row.
Despite finishing 10 lengths behind the winner, Runaway Algo was not to be discouraged. He arrived with a challenge but his 57.0kg (126lb) weight took a toll in deep stretch, and he had no answer for She’s My Destiny who went 27lb lighter.
God of Love (Paul Francis) finished in third place as the final time for the event was timed at 1:11.1 (22.3 x 45.3).
Meanwhile, on the nine-race schedule, freshly licensed trainer Peter-John Parsard and champion jockey Dane Dawkins both had two wins to lead their respective categories. Parsard began the event with Neo Star (Ricardo Duhaney) and ended it with Bootylicious, ridden by Dawkins. Dawkins had previously won the fifth race with Slammer for Hall of Fame trainer Richard Azan, completing his double.
Racing continues today with another nine-race programme. First post is at noon.
