Lifespan Spring Water, students, teachers & parents rally to clean up Buff Bay fishing beach

BUFF BAY, PORTLAND — Workers from Lifespan Spring Water and their CEO Nayana Williams, along with students, teachers and parents from Liberty Learning Centre, rallied Saturday morning to clean up the Buff Bay fishing beach on International Coastal Clean-up Day.

The group gathered about 10:00 am and quickly got into action. They separated plastics from other debris such as metals, wood and paper.

“This is a very good learning opportunity for our students to instil in them that we need to keep our environment clean and unpolluted,” said Williams. “Lifespan is very big on our corporate social responsibility and this is a part of our community and we want to ensure that we are keeping our community clean and we are playing our part.”

Parent Kadian Canaan was pleased with her child’s involvement.

“My son is a part of it and he is excited to be involved in keeping the environment clean, so I just accompanied him. This initiative will teach children how to take care of the environment and not to throw their waste in the ocean or anywhere as they learn to keep their space clean,” she said.
