Protesters demand answers in Medikk’s disappearance

KINGSTON, Jamaica— Family members of Stephanie ‘Medikk’ Williams are currently staging a peaceful protest outside the Constant Spring Police Station to highlight the artiste’s disappearance and to stand in solidarity with families of other missing women and men.

The protest is being led by Williams’ mother, Millicent McCurdy.

Medikk has been missing for almost five weeks. She was last seen on Thursday, August 24, 2023, wearing black tights, shoes, and a black top. All attempts to contact her have failed.

In early September, McCurdy increased the reward for information leading to the recovery of her daughter from $500,000 to $1 million.

“The first reward didn’t unearth any new information regarding my daughter’s disappearance. I am just not getting anywhere. There has been no ransom, no communication. The police are even unable to find her phone. So I have doubled it now because I need answers. Somebody somewhere knows what happened to my daughter, and I intend to find out,” McCurdy had told OBSERVER ONLINE at the time.

McCurdy added that her daughter was more than just a dancehall artiste.

“These crimes are impacting people in so many ways, she is no Medikk, she is my Stephanie. I don’t know why she got involved in this dancehall thing. I am imploring all daughters to listen to their mothers. Let this be a warning to all the girls out there, be careful what you get caught up into, listen to your mothers,” McCurdy said.

Medikk stepped onto the music scene in 2018 as a 24-year-old and now five years later, at 29, has been declared missing. Medikk is best known for songs such as Money Feelings and collaborations such as Overcome featuring Shane O, and Boss Level featuring Jahvillani.
