William Knibb appeals loss of points in d’Cup
KINGSTON, Jamaica – William Knibb Memorial are appealing the loss of three points from their win over Cedric Titus High in their ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup Zone C game played in Martha Brae, Trelawny on Saturday, OBSERVER ONLINE has been told.
William Knibb Memorial had won the game 3-0, snapping Cedric Titus’ perfect winning start at three games but it was later heard that the Martha Brae-based school had used an ineligible player in the game.
It is alleged that the player had accumulated three yellow cards prior to the game, which would have resulted in his sitting out the game.
It is understood that William Knibb are, however, contending that the referee had made a mistake with the identity of the player as it was not the player in contention who had been cautioned in the previous game.
With the awarding of the points, Cedric Titus leads Zone C with 15 points from five wins, five points ahead of second-placed York Castle High-10 points, followed by Ocho Rios High- 9, Browns Town-7 with William Knibb Memorial, Ferncourt High and Aabuthnott Gallimore all on three points.
