Tough Bridge 99FM Cup feature to call

The 2nd staging of the Bridge 99FM Cup, a three-year-old and upward Overnight Allowance contest over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m), takes centre stage on tomorrow’s 10-race card.

Below, the Jamaica Observer‘s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a look at the 11 runners entered and their chances of winning the major share of the $1.25-million purse on offer.

1. CHAMPION BUBBLER (USA): (4 b f by Tapiture – Countess) – Failed to land a blow as the favourite in a 7-furlong (1,400m) event on August 27. Champion Bubbler has trained well since and given the extra half-furlong (100m) to travel, he should put in a better performance here and could challenge for top spot. Note: Tongue-tie off, Visor off.

2. RAINSVILLE: (4 gr g by Casual Trick – Fiftyshadesofray) – Finished fourth on his first start at the level on September 10 in the Kenneth Mattis over 9 furlongs and 25 yards behind Blue Vinyl. Rainsville has no realistic chance of winning this one.

I Realise

3. MORIMOTO: (4 b c by Casual Trick – Luckybegood) – Came off a one-year break and finished sixth by some 2 lengths behind Rojorn Di Pilot over the straight (1,000m) on September 2. Morimoto should benefit from that pipe-opener and with the extension in journey, he should put in a better performance here.

4. TEKAPUNT: (4 b g by Northern Giant – Just A Futter) – Was outsprinted going 5 furlongs round on September 16. Tekapunt will appreciate this extended journey and run an improved race.

5. EL PROFESOR: (8 b g by Casual Trick – The Principal) – Has been running some poor races of late and that should continue here.

6. GET A PEPSI: (4 ch c by Blue Pepsi Lodge – Getupstandup) – Has been a model of consistency. Get A Pepsi has not finished beyond third in his last six outings. Get A Pepsi is expected to go home with a share of the purse here.

Sunset Silhoutte

7. I REALISE: (4 b c by Northern Giant – Regina Royale) – Returns to competitive racing from a 154-day break. I Realise may need the run but he is talented enough to have a say.

8. TAURUS BOY (USA): (5 b h by Speightster – Mc Duffie) – Saves his best run for the straight. Taurus Boy is going to be left behind here.

9. SISTREN TREASURE (USA): (3 b f by Brethren – Katira) – Finished a good second behind I’ve Magic over 6 furlongs (1,200m) on September 23. Sistren Treasure is best suited for this trip and could go one better.

10. SUNSET SILHOUTTE: (4 b f by Northern Giant – Ahwhofah) – Another consistent runner who should do well over this distance. Sunset Silhoutte finished second by 2 ¾ lengths behind Blue Vinyl in the Kenneth Mattis OD Memorial Cup over 9 furlongs and 25 yards on September 10. With nothing as impressive as Blue Vinyl here, Sunset Silhoutte is being given the edge here.

11. BRINKS: (4 b g by Bern Identity – Indian Bluff) – Has not won a race in eight starts this season. Brinks came home in third place behind Luksol and Power Ranking over 5 furlongs on September 16. Brinks should also welcome this extended trip and is expected to be one of the front runners here.
