J Wray & Nephew scores big at JMEA awards

J Wray & Nephew Limited last Saturday triumphed against several other major players in the manufacturing and exporting sectors and emerged as the big winner at this year’s Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA) Awards.

The yearly prestigious event, which celebrated Jamaican excellence in manufacturing and exportation, saw J Wray & Nephew Limited proudly securing two coveted awards – the Prime Minister’s Award for Large Champion Exporters (Manufacturing) and the Governor General Award for Exporter of the Year.

With a rich legacy dating back to 1825, as the oldest company in Jamaica and one of the largest exporters in the Caribbean, with its products going to over 60 countries around the world, J Wray & Nephew has consistently demonstrated a commitment to quality, innovation, and international market expansion. The company, in a release, said its dedication to crafting world-class spirits, including the iconic Appleton Estate Rum, has not only garnered accolades from consumers but has also led to impressive export growth.

Jean-Philippe Beyer, managing director, said: “I am jubilant and humbled by the recognition bestowed upon J Wray & Nephew at this year’s JMEA Awards. Winning these two awards is a testament to the dedication, passion, and relentless pursuit of excellence demonstrated by our entire team.

“This achievement reinforces our commitment to crafting world-class spirits that not only honour Jamaica’s heritage but also resonate with consumers worldwide. We are proud to raise the bar for Jamaican manufacturing and exports and look forward to continuing this remarkable journey of success,” he ended.

The Top Exporter award recognises J Wray & Nephew’s outstanding achievements in international trade, highlighting the company’s ability to introduce Jamaican flavours to global markets successfully. “Their remarkable export performance underscores the company’s vital role in showcasing Jamaica’s rich cultural heritage through its products,” the JMEA said.

Commenting on the remarkable achievement, Tanikie McClarthy Allen, senior director, public affairs and sustainability at J Wray & Nephew, expressed gratitude to the JMEA and attributed the company’s success to the tireless efforts of its dedicated team and staff’s commitment to quality and standards in their operations.

“This award underscores the company’s commitment to excellence in manufacturing processes, product quality, technological advancements, and adherence to standards and procedures to satisfactorily serve the international market. J Wray & Nephew’s victory at the JMEA Awards reaffirms the company’s position as a leading force in the Jamaican manufacturing and export landscape. The company’s commitment to innovation, quality, and global reach continues to shape the future of the spirits industry while proudly representing Jamaica on the world stage,” said McClarthy Allen.
