STATHS looks to maintain perfect Manning Cup start
LAST season’s beaten finalists St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) will be looking for their eighth-straight win of the Inter-secondary Schools Association (ISSA) Manning Cup when they play Tarrant High this afternoon.
STATHS, who currently lead Group D with 21 points, are the top goalscoring team in the competition so far with 37 goals and will look to add to it, with opponents Tarrant conceding 26 goals in their six matches.
Also in Group D, Excelsior High and Bridgeport High will continue their battle for an automatic spot into the next round. Excelsior, second on 15 points, are to travel to Cedar Grove Academy while Bridgeport, third on 12 points, oppose Clan Carthy High.
Defending champions Jamaica College (JC) and Kingston Technical will look to make ground on Group B leaders Tivoli Gardens High when they tackle Cumberland High and Meadowbrook High, respectively. Second-place JC and third-place Kingston Technical are both on nine points, four behind Tivoli. The Tivoli team, however, can maintain their lead with a win over Spanish Town High.
