Jamaican-owned Scotch Boyz sauce ranks among People Magazine’s 50 food faves
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Scotch Boyz Jamaican jerk seasoning has been ranked 29 on US-based People Magazine’s top 50 food favourites in 2023.
Ashley Fraser, Business Manager at Scotch Boyz, welcomed the ranking as a great opportunity to showcase an authentic Jamaican brand.
“First and Last PR really helped us. They were the ones who told us about the list and that People’s Magazine were looking for different types of food businesses and so we applied and sent over samples of our jerk seasoning,” Fraser told Observer Online.
People’s Magazine described the sauce as a “fiery spice blend, sourced from small farms in Jamaica… gets its kick from ground Scotch bonnet peppers.”
Scotch Boyz Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, Drew Gray said that his grandfather, who hailed from Portland and settled in Westmoreland, passed on the treasured recipe along with his knowledge about spices and sauces to the family.
His finishing touches on his grandad’s recipe paved the way for the creation of what would later be known as the Scotch Boyz hot sauce.
This year, Scotch Boyz launched in 600 stores of US retail giant Target through the support of the Shae Moisture Next Black Millionaire’s programme.
