High vibes and energy at FOF
On the outskirts of the Puerto Seco Beach in Runaway Bay in St Ann, self-appointed parking attendants jostled, signalling motorists to take up available parking spaces within close proximity to the beach.
After all, this was their way of making a living, capitalising on the large turnout of patrons who were entering the venue for another staging of the Festival of Floats (FOF) party series.
FOF took place last Saturday.
With parking settled, patrons strutted into the venue, igloos and buckets of liquor in hand, expecting an afternoon of non-stop vibe and high-energy music. They were not disappointed.
The musical stylings of St Ann’s finest, Illusion Sound, Vinchi, the in-demand Kryptic Live, DJ Mac and Baba, and Fatalic with DJ Cyclone kept patrons on a musical high.
Although there were some slow moments during the presentations, things picked up late in the evening as patrons responded positively to some of the most recent dancehall, hip-hop, and afrobeats songs.
DJ Cyclone, who anchored for Fatalic, provided the vibes during his presentation. An experienced MC, Cyclone revved up the crowd while Fatalic jostled the latest hits in between Cyclone’s musings.
Songs such as Flames Rock by Kaka High Flamez, Drift by Teejay, Famaly by Skinny Fabulous, and Raze by Fay Ann Lyons saw patrons dancing up a storm.
Female patrons came dressed to impress wearing eye-catching beachwear.
Kalia, who travelled from Montego Bay with her friend Kylie, had a whale of a time.
“I’m pretty excited about FOF, really, very excited. I saw it being advertised on social media and I said, why not, it seemed like fun at the time,” said Kalia, who is a recent university graduate.
Kaylie, on the other hand, had been wanting to attend FOF since she was in fourth form.
“From I was in fourth form I have been seeing it on Instagram, and now that I am older and working my own money, I get to experience it because I can afford my ticket,” said Kaylie.
Shawn from Ochi Rios was seen partying with a group of friends. He said the girls were what made him decide to attend the event.
“Anywhere you have hot girls, guys will be there. FOF is known to attract the hottest women and this time it didn’t disappoint,” said Shawn.
During his set, DJ Mac alongside his MC, Baba, held the crowd captive with songs such as Burna Boy’s City Boys, Skillibeng’s 16 Choppa, and Machel Montano’s Fast Wine.
There were several well-known faces seen among the throng of patrons. Among them were event coordinators Peter Jason (PJ) Wright; Gregory Wright; Chevaughn Oneil; and Aaron Spence, CEO of booking agency Kaboom Nation.
The event came to an end around 6:30 pm.
