ST ANN, Jamaica – Neither coaches of newly-promoted Lime Hall Academy or Montego Bay United (MBU) were happy with a point after they played out a 0-0 draw in the opening game in the Wray and Nephew JPL at Drax Hall in St Ann on Sunday.

Both teams wasted the few scoring chances they created but came away with a point each in hot conditions. The coaches were hopeful of learning from the game.

David Price, coach of the Lime Hall team said they deserved more than just a point. “Everything worked according to the plan, three substitutes combined just to tap in and that would cap off a good defensive performance and give the fans three points to start but it was not to be,” he said of their best chance in the second half of the game was not taken.

The runners up in the JFF Tier II league last season were playing their first game at this level and Price said concentration would be the key.

“We have to have them understand that in the premier league they have to concentrate for 90 plus minutes. That’s the most important thing. You have to concentrate right through. And I think this was a good exercise in concentration today. We just need to build on this going forward.”

For his part, Nedier Dos Santos, the coach of the MBU team said the game was balanced throughout but they failed to make use of their chances. “We created chances as well, I think it was a balanced match and in the last 20 minutes I think we were superior and we’re still having to work on the decision-making in front. You see many times when we had the chance to kill the game, our last passes were poor, our crosses were poor, and so on”.
