Reggae Girlz lose 2-1 to Panama in Gold Cup qualifiers
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s qualification for the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup got off to a losing start after they gave up a lead and were beaten 2-1 by Panama in their qualifying game played at Ramon Fernandez stadium in Panama on Wednesday.
After losing in their Olympic Games qualifying to Canada in their home-and-away series, the Jamaican team was forced to compete in a qualifier for the Gold Cup.
They will host Guatemala at the National Stadium on Sunday.
On Wednesday, Ricshya Walker gave Jamaica the lead in the 21st minute but an own goal in the 44th minute from Alika Keene saw the home team draw level.
Lineth Cedeno scored the winner in the 84th minute to give Panama the lead and a leg up on the qualification for the Gold Cup.
