Samantha Hall takes first senior medal in Pan Am discus throw
SANTIAGO, Chile – Discus thrower Samantha Hall claimed Jamaica’s first medal in track and field, and second of the Pan American Games, on Monday afternoon.
Hall’s second attempt measured 59.14m to claim the bronze medal in the Women’s Discus Throw final, and her first senior medal representing her country.
Brazil’s Izabela Rodrigues’ attempt of 59.63m was enough to give her the gold ahead of her teammate Andressa Oliveira, who registered a throw of 59.29m.
Hall’s teammate, Adrienne Adams, also competed in the final. Her attempt of 55.55m placed her eighth.
Jamaica’s other medal was a bronze by cyclist Dahlia Palmer in the women’s Keirin event last Wednesday.
