Mt Pleasant stay perfect in JPL
Champions Mt Pleasant FA maintained their perfect win record after coming from behind to beat Molynes United 3-1 in their Jamaica Premier League game played on Sunday.
The win was the third for the Theodore Whitmore-coached team as they raced to nine points and sit atop the points table.
After battling for just over an hour, Jermy Nelson gave Molynes United the lead when he converted from the penalty spot in the 70th minute but Mt Pleasant responded through substitute Marlon Allen in the 73rd minute. Kimoni Bailey gave Mt Pleasant FA the lead in the 79th minute before Oquassa Chong added a third in time added on.
Portmore United won back-to-back games after beating Dunbeholden FC 2-0 in the Portmore derby with goals from Martin Davis in the 41st minute and Omar Reid in the 84th minute.
Each team finished the game with 10 players after Rohan Brown of Dunbeholden was sent off in the 12th minute and Emelio Rousseau of Portmore was dismissed in the 70th minute.
Treasure Beach scored their first Premier League win, edging fellow promoted team Lime Hall Academy 1-0 at the STETHS Sports Complex with Tedlar Parchment scoring the winner in the 53rd minute.
Former national striker Brian ‘Rambo’ Brown came off the bench to snatch a point for Montego Bay United who drew 1-1 against Vere United. Vere led from as early as the ninth minute when Suejay Graham sent them ahead with his second goal in as many games.
Brown, who has played club football in Europe the past few years, however came off the bench to score the equaliser in the 88th minute.
