Bog Walk Gorge closed due to heavy rain
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— The Bog Walk Gorge in St Catherine has been closed.
Police said in an advisory that the closure is due to the heavy rains being experienced across the island, particularly in parishes located to the south and east of Jamaica.
The Hordley Cross main road between Portland and St Thomas and the Mavis Bank to Gordon Town Road in St Andrew are also impassable due to the inclement weather, authorities said.
As a result, motorists and pedestrians are urged to use alternative routes and to observe and follow all road signs where possible.
The island is currently under a tropical storm watch, which went into effect at 5pm on Thursday.
The met office had indicated that there was a 60 per cent chance of a tropical storm affecting the island, Prime Minister Andrew Holness said in a post on social media Thursday afternoon.
