TRAINER Fitzroy Gilespie has confirmed that his steadily improving three-year-old colt Money Miser will be entered in next month’s prestigious Mouttet Mile event at Caymanas Park. The Mouttet Mile, recognised as the richest race in the English-speaking Caribbean, boasts a purse of US$150,000 and will be contested over eight furlongs on December 2.

Money Miser secured his third win of the year last Saturday at Caymanas Park, cruising to victory in the United Racehorse Trainers Association Trophy over nine furlongs and 25 yards. Guided by leading jockey Reyan Lewis, Money Miser triumphed over a formidable field which included contenders like Super Alex, Rhythm Buzz, and Power From Above.

Gilespie emphasised that, while Money Miser has demonstrated impressive form, predicting outcomes in horse racing remains uncertain. “I am planning to go to the Mouttet Mile because he is qualified,” said Gilespie. “I am going in there with an open mind, and whatever happens, happens because these are all horses and you can never tell,” he added.

Highlighting Money Miser’s ongoing improvement, Gilespie expressed optimism about the colt’s potential. “He has been improving and he still has a lot more scope for improvement so wherever he finishes in the Mouttet Mile, then that is fine with me,” Gilespie said.

Additionally, Gilespie underscored Money Miser’s pedigree, noting the horse’s lineage from Soul Warrior–She’s Traditional by Traditional.

“Both of Money Miser’s parents won Classic races in their respective careers, with his mother securing the 1000 Guineas – an accomplishment made even more remarkable at odds of 99-1 at the track,” Gilespie said. “This horse certainly has a lot of quality because his mom won the 1000 Guineas, and I believe she is the first horse to win the 1000 Guineas at odds of 99-1 here at the track. His father, Soul Warrior, was a Triple Crown winner so he definitely has a lot of potential in him.”
