
Intruder allegedly caught breaking into house charged
ST THOMAS, Jamaica—A man has been charged after he was allegedly caught in the act of breaking into a house in Springfield Close, St Thomas on Sunday, November 26.
Charged is 35-year-old Dwayne Watson a labourer of Friendship Pen, Morant Bay, St Thomas.
Watson was charged with housebreaking with intent and malicious destruction of property.
Reports from the Morant Bay police are that about 1:20 pm, Watson destroyed four CCTV cameras on the outside of a man’s three-bedroom house, tore off a section of the grille to the carport and damaged a back door of one of the bedrooms, when he was caught in the act by the owner who was armed with a machete.
Watson allegedly begged the man not to hurt him and was told to leave the premises.
The police were alerted and shortly after Watson was arrested and taken into custody.
Following an investigation into the matter, Watson was charged after he underwent a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
