Hanover labourer charged after stolen items allegedly discovered at his house
HANOVER, Jamaica— A labourer was charged on Tuesday after police allegedly found items in his house that are believed to have been stolen during a break-in at a premises in Pond Piece district, Hanover on Sunday, November 26.
Charged with housebreaking and larceny is 32-year-old Ashwani Hunt, otherwise called ‘Barber Boy’ of Lookout district, Hopewell in the parish.
Reports from the Lucea Police are that a man locked his house and went away and upon his return, he realised that perpetrators forcefully broke a back door to the house, entered and stole items.
The matter was reported to the police and the investigation led a police team to Hunt’s community.
During an operation at his house on Monday, November 27, several items – believed to be stolen- were seized, including a box of cigars and debit cards in the name of the owner of the stolen items.
Hunt was charged after he underwent an interview session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
