C’bean recruiter The Hive boosts platform with AI

Caribbean recruiter Ingenuity Technologies says it has improved the performance of its freelancer services marketplace platform, known as The Hive, with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI).

The Kingston, Jamaica-based company, which was founded by Melarka Williams in 2020, created The Hive to serve “as a nexus for collaboration between Caribbean and global businesses and proven freelance technology professionals”. With a community of more than 10,000 users across the Caribbean, India, and the United States, the platform connects freelancers, entrepreneurs, and agencies with employers across the world.

Speaking recently at the Human Resource and Leadership Conference held at the AC Hotel in Kingston, Williams, who serves as CEO of The Hive, highlighted that AI can streamline and enhance the staffing and recruitment processes in organisations, thus revolutionising the way companies identify, attract, and retain top talent.

“The Hive utilises cutting-edge artificial intelligence to facilitate seamless collaboration between organisations seeking the best talent and freelance professionals eager to contribute their expertise,” he explained.

The company also noted in a release that the incorporation of AI into its operations helps companies to automate repetitive or routine tasks, such as sifting through résumés in order to increase the time for recruiters to focus on the more strategic aspects of the hiring process.

By applying machine-learning algorithms, AI analyses candidate profiles, identifying patterns and preferences to match the right candidate with the right job. This not only accelerates the recruitment process but also ensures a more accurate and unbiased selection.

The Hive, therefore, employs a sophisticated interface that allows its business clients and freelancers and agencies to easily identify and connect with each other.

“It is a space that facilitates the submission of requests for bids, estimates, project bids, as well as the peddling of freelance services online. The platform serves as a meeting point for the best Caribbean talent and regional/global organisations with technological and digital needs,” the company stated.

AI is also instrumental in enhancing the candidate experience as chatbots powered by natural language processing engage with candidates in real time, providing them with instant responses to queries and guiding them through the application process. This not only creates a more user-friendly experience but also ensures that candidates remain engaged and informed at every step.

As part of its terms of services, The Hive provides a suite of offerings through its website, including hosting and maintaining the platform, facilitating the creation of service contracts, and assisting users in resolving disputes.

“When a user enters into a service contract, The Hive becomes the conduit for invoicing and payment transactions, ensuring a secure and transparent process,” the company outlined.

In addition to talent recruitment, outsourcing, and part-time and full-time job placements, the website also provides users with project management services as well as skill-based training and courses with international certifications.
