Juventus host champs Napoli in Serie A mount-watering clash

With the English Premier League dishing out goals in galore for Christmas, we take a look at some high-flying teams across Europe’s top leagues. Firstly, in-form Juventus will host high-flying and defending Serie A champions Napoli on Friday in a blockbuster affair, then on Saturday, Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig square off in a highly anticipated clash that should provide another goal fest for fans.

Event # 1 – ITA – Juventus vs Napoli – 2:45 PM

Juventus will host defending Serie A champions Napoli in the big Friday clash when both teams square off at the Allianz Arena. Indeed, Juventus have been in blistering form in recent times, and will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run in the league to 10 matches. The Old Lady, Juventus, have remained unbeaten at home this season and trail leaders Inter Milan by just two points — victory for Juventus will see them moving to the top of the league. So impressive have Juventus been this season, there’s talk that they will challenge for the title as they have lost just once from their 14 matches played so far, winning six of their last seven matches. The only game Juventus have failed to win during this stretch was a 1-1 draw with league leaders Inter Milan.

Napoli, on the other hand, had a spectacular campaign last season, winning their third Serie A title, the first in 33 years. However, the loss of Coach Luciano Spalletti appears to have had a negative effect on the team as they look nothing like the team that brushed aside all and sundry last season, as they currently sit fifth in the table, 11 points off the top spot. With that said, Napoli head into this crucial game in a spot of bother having been smashed 3-0 at home by league leaders Inter Milan last weekend, and they have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions heading into this encounter. Indeed, Napoli’s title defence hasn’t gone to plan so far, and they will need to be at their best against a high-flying Juventus side who haven’t lost a match at home this season.

Key Stats

• Juventus – Juventus have won 10 of their 14 matches played in the league so far this season and have won six of their last seven matches.

• Napoli – Napoli have lost three of their last four matches and are winless against the top seven sides in Serie A so far this season.

• Both sides – Napoli have had the upper hand in this fixture in recent times winning three of the last four meetings against Juventus. However, Juventus have won 22 of their last 24 home matches, while Napoli are unbeaten in 12 of their last 14 away matches.

The betting Tip. Juventus win.

Event # 2 GER – Dortmund vs RB Leipzig – 12:30 PM

It’s fourth against fifth as Borussia Dortmund host RB Leipzig in a blockbuster Bundesliga clash tomorrow, Saturday. Dortmund head into this game off the back of a good 1-1 away draw against league leaders Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, while RB Leipzig were a winning favourite against promoted side Heidenheim winning 2-1 at home.

Dortmund started the new campaign impressively but have been inconsistent in recent times, and this poor form has seen them drop to fifth in the table. However, at home, Dortmund have been in tremendous form lately, winning six of their eight matches played. Additionally, they are unbeaten in their last seven matches against Rb Leipzig, winning three of the last four matchups.

RB Leipzig, meanwhile, have been less than impressive on their travels in the Bundesliga in recent times, winning just three of their last 19 away matches in league and cup action. With that said, RB Leipzig were touted as the team to challenge Bayern Munich for the title this year and victory over Dortmund would leave them just six points behind the leaders, Leverkusen.

Key Stats

• Dortmund – Dortmund have won four of their last five Bundesliga home matches.

• RB Leipzig – RB Leipzig have lost four of their last five away games in all competitions.

• Both sides – When Dortmund hosted RB Leipzig at home, they won 2-1 back in March. In their 16 previous meetings, Borussia Dortmund have won eight times while RB Leipzig won six. With the other two matches ending in a draw.

The betting Tip. Draw.
