Rough Entry — top of the pile after Mouttet Mile victory

Rough Entry, trained by Rohan Crichton, topped the earnings list with $12,500,000 after winning the US$150,000 Mouttet Mile on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Rough Entry, ridden by the visiting rider Julien Leparoux, defeated rivals by seven lengths in the Graded Stakes contest for three-year-olds and upward over one mile (1,600m). The bay horse won in a time of 1:38.0 (23.0 x 45.0 x 1:10.0).

Rough Entry, instead of returning to the US, will continue racing locally.

This year’s Jamaica Derby winner Ability — trained and owned by Patrick Lynch — finished second behind Rough Entry.

By finishing second, Ability earned a substantial $4 million, bringing its total earnings to $10,029,250, according to official statistics provided by the promoting company.

Following a courageous front-running effort, three-year-old filly Mamma Mia landed in third place with $7,494,250. Mamma Mia earned $2 million in the Mouttet Mile for her effort.

Atomica‘s earnings remained unchanged at $6,346,650 since it did not finish in the Mouttet Mile. The reigning Horse of the Year occupies fourth place on the list.

Rounding off the top five is this year’s Gold Cup winner She’s My Destiny. She’s My Destiny finished eighth in the Mouttet Mile, earning $200,000 bringing her total earnings for the season to $5,691,850.

The top 10 earners’ list is provided below.
