Prince Saj charges on the Conquest

Gospel deejay Prince Saj says a lot of work went into his début EP titled Conquest.

The seven-song project was released on November 30.

Conquest, which was produced by DaJourney Productions, is the first body of work from Prince Saj, who came to the public’s attention in 2021, when he finished in second place in the Magnum Top Performa competition.

“A lot of work went into getting this EP completed. We worked on this many late nights and early mornings. My manager and I had to be on the phone almost every night trying to get everything right. It was really hard, because my manager — who is also the producer of all seven tracks — resides in Canada, and I live in Jamaica. So we had to be corresponding back and forth over the phone on video calls just to make sure we got everything correct. God really held our hands and had our backs all the way throughout this whole process,” Prince Saj disclosed in an interview with the Jamaica Observer recently.

The tracks featured on Conquest are Alpha and Omega, Watch Yuh Step, The Message, Marriage is Beautiful, God with Us, and The Letter.

Prince Saj explained the inspiration behind the title of the project.

“Conquest is about rising to conquer our fears, our adversities, the trials and tribulations in life and, most of all, the sinful nature of mankind. Taking that leap of faith to walk on the righteous path is not an easy thing, but, in me giving my life to God, I wanted to know more about the one that I’m surrendering my life to. Unaware of… what would happen, I went on a journey to search and find out the truth. While journeying through the Bible, reading, praying, and fasting daily, I then saw that my life was being transformed and transformed in a way where I started to take more command of my situations.

“… I definitely encountered Christ who took away the sins of this world. Now that I’ve found out the truth, and the truth has indeed set me free, I’m now on a journey to disrupt the move of the enemy by sharing the message of truth that I received, to everyone that I possibly can share it with. To let them experience the fulfilling encounter that I had and for them to know that the truth does indeed set people free,” said Prince Saj.

Prince Saj, who previously recorded secular music, grew up in Font Hill, St Thomas, and Angels in St Catherine. He gave his life to Christ more than 20 years ago.

Last year, he won Breakout Artiste of the Year at the Sterling Gospel Music Awards. This year, he was nominated in two categories: Male Artiste of the Year and Video of the Year for Fully Jesus.

Asked what was the message that he wanted listeners to take away from listening to Conquest, Prince Saj said: “I want people to understand that the gift of life is free and it is there for everyone, and there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. You are not too far gone, come to God as you are and let him handle the rest. Take on this conquest with Jesus Christ to conquer your fears and your adversities, to conquer your trials and tribulations in life, and, most of all, the sinful nature of mankind. Take that leap of faith to walk on the righteous path with God, the time is now.”

Conquest, he added, “is the mandate to preach the good news so that everyone can get to know the bread of life, saviour of the world, ancient of days, the one who redeems and restores, the one called Jesus Christ”.
