D&G Foundation gives financial boost to Every Mikkle Foundation
DESNOES and Geddes (D&G) Foundation heralded the season of giving with a donation of $100,000 to the Every Mikkle Foundation, recently.
This sponsorship will contribute to the youth-led charity’s 11th annual Christmas treat, set to bring joy to more than 100 youngsters aged five to 21 from Mary’s Child, Martha’s House, Dare to Care and Mathew 25:40 children’s homes.
Janelle Cooper, head of the Business Development Committee at Every Mikkle, welcomed the D&G Foundation’s proactive pursuit of sponsorship for the event.
She reflected on the committee’s deliberate choice to collaborate with the D&G Foundation, already well-renowned for its generosity and dedication to philanthropy.
“When seeking sponsorship for our treat this year, we knew it would’ve been a good idea to reach out to the D&G Foundation because it is well known for giving back. This sponsorship will help raise funds for the Children’s Fun Day, which will feature amusements, food, giveaways and donations of essential items to children in need.
“The children always seem to enjoy it, and we hope to give as much as we did last year and the years before,” said Cooper.
Every Mikkle Foundation is a youth-led organisation that prioritises helping needy children through financial support and donations. It focuses on education, sports, health, and reducing poverty and food insecurity for youths aged five to 21.
The Christmas Eve Fun Day has been an annual event since 2013 when the Every Mikkle Foundation was founded.
“We hope to receive more sponsorship with this event to meet our $500,000 financial goal, and with a long-term vision, we hope to garner more sponsorship and expand our impact, not only in Jamaica but also in our Ghana Chapter. Our commitment is to continue fostering youth and national development,” added Cooper.
In the meantime, administrative assistant at the D&G Foundation Totlyn Brown Robb said its leaders admire the dedication and tenacity of the members of the Every Mikkle Foundation.
“Since their introduction, the foundation has grown, and we’re glad they reached out to us for support. They’ve consistently hosted the Christmas treat, adding special holiday cheer to needy children, and we could not pass up the opportunity to assist,” said Brown Robb.
“We are thankful for their contribution to youth outreach as youths themselves, and we encourage them to continue giving back,” added Brown Robb.
The Every Mikkle Christmas Eve Fun Day will be hosted at Liberty Academy which will be prepared to accommodate more than 200 attendees.
