Highgate gets netball court

HIGHGATE, St Mary — Just in time for Christmas, a new netball court has been provided for residents of Highgate in St Mary. The unveiling was marked with a four-team competition.

St Mary Strikers came out as the winners, besting Rich High Strikers, Oracabessa and Brimmer Vale netball teams.

Member of Parliament for St Mary Central Dr Morais Guy, whose representation made the project possible, urged residents to take care of the facility.

“This netball court is to be used for playing netball only and not for anything else. Each one of you should take responsibility to ensure that,” he urged during the opening ceremony.

The project, which was funded by the Tourism Enhancement Fund, cost $5 million. Work was done through the Social Development Commission.

The Oracabessa netball team was among four that participated in a match during the unveiling of Highgate’s new netball court.
