Racing United, Tru-Juice FC top the table in JFF Championship
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica— Racing United and Tru-Juice FC seem well on their way to securing early berths in the semis-finals of the Jamaica Football Federation Championship and could move further away from the pack this coming weekend.
Both teams registered five straight wins last weekend, beating Chapleton Maroons and Brown’s Town FC respectively, and will go for win number six on Saturday.
Racing are away to Portlanders at Lynch Park and Tru-Juice faces Hopewell United at Orchard.
Saturday’s wins took Racing United and Tru-Juice FC to 15 points, separated by goal-difference, opening up a five-point gap over the rest of the competition.
Racing United trailed in a game for the first time this season but rallied to beat Chapleton 3-1 at the Prison Oval.
Kenrick Dyer gave Chapleton the lead in the ninth minute but Racing came back to draw level in the 18th minute thanks to a goal from Jermaine Bascoe.
Javaughn Cole then scored his sixth goal of the season in the 29th minute to give them the lead before Deandre Johnson scored a third in the 90th minute.
Chapleton Maroons finished the game with 10 players after Rickey Gray was sent off in the 82nd minute.
Tru-Juice ended Brown’s Town’s three- games winning run with a slim 1-0 win at the Tru-Juice Complex in Bogwalk.
Baptist Alliance moved into the top three with a 2-0 win over last placed Meadforest FC at Bell Chung Oval with Stephen Campbell scoring both goals in the second half, in the third and sixth minutes.
Baptist Alliance were scoring back- to- back wins for the first time and are on 10 points and third place.
Reno FC came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Faulkland FC at Wespow Park with goals from Yassar Bacchus scoring in the 78th minute and Dexter Haughton in the 87th minute.
Shanoy Anderson had given Faulkland FC the lead after six minutes and Giovanni Clarke had doubled the lead in the 37th minute.
Petersfield FC came from a goal down to beat Falmouth United who have lost back-to-back games.
Allan Ottey justified his first start of the season when he gave Falmouth United the lead in the fifth minute but Zian Whyte equalised in the 45th minute before O’Shawn Neil scored the winner in the 50th minute.
Hopewell United got their second win of the season, blanking Portlanders FC 3-0 at Orchard Sports Complex.
All three goals came in the second half from Christopher Oates in the 58th minute, Romario Distin in the 65th minute and Hietolah Gardener in the 70th minute.
