Carl Weathers, Apollo Creed from ‘Rocky’ and ‘Mandalorian’ star, dies at 76
LOS ANGELES – Carl Weathers, best known for his role as Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” movies, has died.
According to a report from NBC News, the late actor’s family made the announcement indicating that Weathers died in his sleep.
He was 76 years old.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” a statement from the family read. “Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life.”
“Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognised worldwide and across generations,” it continued. “He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend.”
Weathers was also known for his role in “Predator,” and “The Mandalorian.”
NBC reports that the actor also had credits on TV shows such as “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Magnum P.I.” and “Chicago P.D.”
