Man cannot explain how he got foreign bank card
MONTEGO BAY, St James — A man has found himself in a legal predicament after failing to disclose to authorities how he came in possession of an international bank card.
The defendant, Dion Watkins, appeared in the St James Parish Court on Wednesday, charged with possession of an access device. The case was presided over by Parish Judge Sasha Marie Smith-Ashley.
According to court documents, on January 15, around 10:00 pm, Watkins was seen walking along the Mount Salem main road in Montego Bay when he was stopped and searched by the police as part of a routine check.
During the search, an international bank card was discovered in Watkins’ possession, and he could not provide a satisfactory explanation for how he came into possession of the item.
As a result, he was arrested and charged.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, the court was informed that a report from the Communication, Forensics and Cybercrime Division (CFCD) and the statement given by the corroborating officer had not yet been submitted.
As a result, Smith-Ashley rescheduled the case for September 17 and extended Watkins’ bail.
